Power dish with tradition

This recipe is our vegan interpretation of the traditional dish "Riebel" from Vorarlberg, the home of the Hempions. The power meal is particularly suitable when you have big plans and need a lot of energy. In addition to carbohydrates, our Riebel provides many valuable fats and proteins.

Riebel originated in the border region of Liechtenstein, Austria and Switzerland and is also called "Stopfer" or "Brösel". Riebel was mainly a meal of poor people until the 1970s. Farmers ate the meal for breakfast to build up strength for a long day of work in the fields.

The hemp protein in the recipe adds an extra portion of protein and minerals to the dish. This way, the hemp protein sausage keeps you full longer and more sustainably, and you are ready for peak performance.

Overview

Optionally, you can use wheat or spelt semolina in addition to the semolina or maize semolina in the recipe. The premium hemp protein adds a subtle nutty note to the dish. Instead, for a green, fibre-rich version, you can also use Hemp Protein High Fiber use.

Hanfriebel is usually served with a cup of coffee or cocoa in the morning or with apple sauce for lunch or dinner. Often, the slice is dipped into the coffee with a spoon and then eaten.

Preparation

  1. Bring the hemp milk with salt to the boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the hemp protein and then slowly stir in the semolina.
  3. Leave the mixture to cool for at least one hour
  4. Melt the coconut oil in a large frying pan and fry the whole mash for a good 30 minutes, turning and crushing it often.

Fun Fact: In the past, it was normal for everyone at the table to eat the slice directly from the frying pan.
