Hemp Apple Pie

Crispy, fruity pleasure

This special hemp apple pie not only looks good, but also tastes fantastic. Thanks to unhulled hemp seeds and Hemp Protein High Fiber it also provides twice the portion of fibre for a healthy digestive system.

Overview

Ingredients 

  • 150 g butter
  • 150 g raw sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 150 g wholemeal spelt flour
  • 50 g Hemp Protein High Fiber or hemp flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
  • 120 g grated almonds
  • 80 g sultanas
  • 1 kg tart apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 TBSP. Hemp seeds unhulled

Time commitment:

1 h 50 minutes total time. Dou have 60-70 minutes baking time and 45 minutes preparation time.

Preparation:

  1. Beat the butter, sugar, eggs and salt until fluffy. Then mix the flour, hemp protein, almonds and baking powder separately and fold in. 
  2. Pour the mixture into a round cake tin and sprinkle with sultanas. Peel the apples, cut in half, slice lengthwise and drizzle with lemon juice.
  3. Oven to 175 °C preheat. Cover dough tightly with Top with apples and sprinkle with hemp seeds. Depending on the juice content of the apples, bake at 175 °C for 60-70 minutes. 

Tips:

You can easily increase the amount of healthy fats in hemp apple pie. Replace the ground almonds in the recipe with a 50:50 hemp seed-almond mix. The almonds and hulled hemp seeds ideally in a food processor.

The Hempions like the cake best 2-3 days after baking, when the juice from the apples has soaked into the cake base.
