Hemp Pasta all'Amatriciana

Vegan version of the Italian classic

Delicious, quick to prepare and full of energy: that's what makes this recipe with organic hemp original spelt pasta an absolute Hempions favourite. The original recipe for this delicious pasta variation comes from the small mountain village of Amatrice in the Italian province of Rieti.

Our hemp pasta all'Amatriciana is vegan and not gluten-free.

Ingredients for 4 people

Time commitment:

20 minutes total time.

Difficulty level:

  1. Bring a high pot with water and plenty of salt to the boil.
  2. Crush the garlic cloves and fry in olive oil.
  3. Then add the tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes until a homogeneous mass is formed. Then season with salt, pepper and sugar.
  4. Add the hemp spirals to the boiling water and cook for 4 ½ minutes until "al dente".
  5. As a substitute for the crispy fried bacon cubes, finely dice the onion and fry together with salt, smoked paprika and olive oil until they caramelise slightly.
  6. Fold the hemp noodles into the tomato sauce. Serve with caramelised onions and hemp hamesan.

If you remove the core of the garlic cloves, the infamous garlic smell after eating the food will be much less.
Hemp pasta all'Amatriciana can also be spiced up with fresh herbs. We especially love fresh basil.
